METHINKS TOO MUCH
What it is:
- Musings/essays/comments on anything and everything that makes me feel some kind of way.
- A quiet, hidden corner of the internet in which to think out loud and wax poetic.
- A place for visitors to think out loud with me.
What it isn’t:
- A scholarly blog – I am not an expert on ANYTHING. While I hope to satisfactorily describe my thought processes and WHY I hold the opinions that I do, I do not suggest that my opinions qualify as facts.
- A journalistic blog – No news is reported here, fake or otherwise. Many topics, however, are my thoughts on today’s headlines and the current affairs that keep me up at night.
- A political blog – While most of what is written here is opinion and may appear to be biased, the point is not to champion any political perspective or to denigrate another. Rather it is to speak from my own perspective and explain how it leads to my personal opinions. I welcome and encourage feedback from those who can respectfully state their different perspectives as food for thought.
- Dodge City, AKA, the comments section of Yahoo, Reddit, Youtube or any other place where people are gunning for a fight – Here is a peaceful valley where the birds sing and pondering is done lying in a field with a sprig of hay in your teeth and a straw hat pulled over your eyes.
I believe that strength only increases with resistance and knowledge only grows from questioning. If you never challenge your beliefs or test them against somebody with a different vantage point, you have not earned the conviction of them.
Disagreement, however, is not warfare. Variety is the spice of life and disagreement is a healthy byproduct of it. There is no reason to fight. Note the difference. In disagreement, both or all sides state their opinion, qualify it with both their broader, demographic perspective and their narrower perspective, unique to them individually. There is no imposed conclusion. No minds HAVE to change, but the beauty is in the possibility that minds CAN change from understanding life in someone else’s shoes. Warfare is a different beast altogether. The goal is not to inform but to win. By definition, if one wins, the rest lose. You see in an opponent someone looking to take something FROM you, not give something TO you. No minds are changed in this format and it breeds nothing but contempt and disdain. There is enough of that in today’s world. There won’t be any of that on this blog.
ME (THINKS TOO MUCH)
What I am:
- An aspiring author.
- Female. Black. That is not the whole of me – though each infuses my worldview – those are just the basics. Just like four tires, a steering wheel, and an engine describe all cars but not their unique characteristics or value.
What I’m not:
- Particularly photogenic. This is a selfie-free zone.
- A PhD in any subject. I didn’t shell out the money to add letters to my name. I’m smart but don’t let me tell you what to do.
- An influencer. See above. I have good taste but… Simply put, don’t come for me if you followed my advice and found yourself squarely on your butt. That’s exactly where I find myself much of the time. This is about what I see while I’m getting back up.
- A journalist. Nothing I write is affiliated with any publication or news source.

While I will make the effort to express myself clearly with grammar and punctuation, the pieces I write in this blog are in my true voice as my true self. Unfortunately, the true me is no stranger to colorful language. Although it is not my intent to offend, if you are sensitive to such things, realize that there may be offensive language. However, I will not EVER use offensive language to personally address anybody that graces this blog with their presence, nor will that be tolerated from others.
